KESINO Control Room Solutions | Curved Custom Console Project (30 Operators)

Project Background: Collaboration Challenges in Modern Dispatch Centers

In large-scale industrial dispatch and command centers, traditional console layouts often struggle to meet the demands of high-density operations. When dozens of operators must simultaneously monitor systems, communicate with teams, and make real-time decisions, workspace design becomes a critical factor in overall operational performance.

Common issues found in conventional control room consoles include restricted sightlines, inefficient communication between operators, and limited workspace utilization. These challenges become more significant when a control room must support 30 operators working continuously in a mission-critical environment.

To address these requirements, KESINO designed and delivered a fully

customized curved control room console system capable of supporting a 30-seat collaborative command platform. The project focused on improving operator visibility, enhancing ergonomic comfort, and integrating advanced equipment management within a unified workstation environment.

Customized Curved Control Console Solution

1. Curved Layout for Optimized Spatial Efficiency

The command center required a workstation layout that allows all operators to maintain a clear view of the central video wall while preserving efficient communication between team members.

The curved control room console layout was designed with a large-radius arc, ensuring that every operator position maintains an unobstructed line of sight toward the main display systems.

Compared with conventional straight-line configurations, the curved design significantly reduces viewing angle deviation and allows operators to access shared visual data more efficiently.

Additionally, the arc configuration naturally forms a centralized collaborative workspace, increasing effective operational area while maintaining safe circulation paths for personnel movement and emergency access.

2. Ergonomic Design for 30 Operator Workstations

Each workstation was designed according to professional ergonomic standards for control room environments, ensuring comfort and efficiency during long operational shifts.

Key ergonomic features include:

  • Adjustable desktop height range from 650 mm to 850 mm

  • Heavy-duty monitor arms supporting up to 15 kg per display system

  • Integrated embedded control panels designed for intuitive operation

  • Workstation geometry aligned with ISO 9241 ergonomic guidelines

The curved arrangement also optimizes operator spacing, maintaining an ideal distance between workstations to encourage smooth communication while preserving personal working space. This layout allows operators to exchange information quickly without disrupting ongoing monitoring tasks.

3. Integrated Equipment and Cable Management System

Modern command center consoles must support complex equipment integration, including monitoring devices, communication systems, and industrial control interfaces.

The KESINO console platform incorporates a fully integrated cable and equipment management architecture, ensuring reliability and maintainability.

Key system features include:

  • Internal segregated power and data cable routing

  • Built-in 19-inch standard equipment rack space within each workstation

  • Hidden cable channels connecting directly to underfloor infrastructure

  • Support for up to eight device connections per operator station

This design maintains a clean and organized workspace while ensuring that maintenance teams can quickly access equipment when needed.

4. Thermal Management and Maintenance Efficiency

Continuous operation in industrial control environments requires effective heat dissipation and rapid maintenance capability.

Each workstation module includes:

  • Dedicated ventilation space exceeding 1200 cm³ for internal equipment cooling

  • Removable inspection panels for easy servicing

  • Support for rapid equipment replacement through modular access

These features significantly reduce system downtime and allow technical teams to maintain the control room console system with minimal disruption to daily operations.

5. High-Performance Materials and Structural Durability

The console structure was engineered to meet the durability standards required in professional command center environments.

Structural Frame

  • Constructed using 1.5 mm cold-rolled steel panels

  • Surface treated with phosphating and electrostatic powder coating

  • Corrosion resistance verified through ASTM B117 500-hour salt spray testing

Work Surface

  • 12 mm high-pressure laminate (HPL) desktop surface

  • Abrasion resistance exceeding 4000 wear cycles

  • Fire performance rated UL94 V-0

For operator safety and comfort, all exposed edges are finished with 3 mm radius rounded corners, in accordance with ANSI/BIFMA safety standards.

Results: A High-Efficiency Collaborative Command Platform

Following installation, the curved control room console system successfully transformed the dispatch center into a highly organized operational environment.

Key improvements include:

  • Enhanced visibility toward central monitoring systems

  • Faster communication between operators and supervisors

  • Optimized workspace organization and cable routing

  • Improved ergonomic comfort during extended monitoring shifts

  • A modern control room environment aligned with international design standards

The result is a fully integrated command center workspace capable of supporting 30 simultaneous operators, delivering improved operational coordination and long-term reliability.
